Sergei Guriev

Provost at the Instituts d'études politiques in Paris (Sciences Po).

From 2019 to 2022 he was the Scientific Director of Sciences Po's Master's and PhD programs in economics. In July, 2022 he was appointed as Sciences Po Provost by the President of Sciences Po.

Guriev was rector of the prestigious New Economic School in Moscow from 2004 to 2013.

He is a Research Fellow at the Center for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and member of the Executive Committee of the International Economic Association. In 2016-2019, he served as the Chief Economist at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Member of the Scientific Council of the BRUEGEL Research Institute, the Advisory Committee of the Peterson Institute of International Economics.

Dr. Guriev’s research interests include contract theory, corporate governance, political economics and labor mobility. Dr. Guriev has published in international refereed journals including American Economic Review, Journal of European Economic Association, Journal of Economic Perspectives and American Political Science Review.
