Nassim Taleb

American mathematician and trader, economist and philosopher. The book "The Black Swan" brought Taleb worldwide fame. Taleb studies the impact of random and unpredictable events on the global economy and stock trading, as well as the mechanisms of trading in derivative financial instruments.

He received a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Wharton School of Business and defended his doctoral thesis (equivalent to a Russian PhD or an American PhD) at the University of Paris-Dauphine.

Taleb held senior positions in brokerage firms in London and New York, and also worked on the stock exchange before he founded his own company, the hedge fund Empirika EL-El-Si (futures transactions and the sale of options).
